From the Perks of the Color-coded Mushaf Part 1

The color coded mushaf at Tajweed is very helpful, however, one should not solely depend on it (actually learning the rules is better). I have found it to be beneficial in the beginning of my studies and quite useful still, Alhamdulillaah. It has many perks for both the beginner and intermediate student. I hope to share these perks with you piecemeal, for now I’ll point out just one (for the intermediate/advanced), In Shaa Allaah.

Have you ever noticed those little words to the left and right of the pages? Have you ever taken the time to figure out what they were there for? I have to admit, I paid little to no attention to them for a long time. One day I decided to enlighten myself and satisfy a newfound sense of curiosity. Well, well, well..what do you know! Select words were taken and defined in a lughawee/tafseeree way, a dars all on their own. What a gift.

Some benefits:

  • increases your knowledge and awareness of the soorah which strengthens your memory
  • builds your vocabulary/enables you to define words from ‘Arabic to ‘Arabic
  • helps you to bring together explanations from other books and lessons of tafseer

Confer with those grounded in this science to avoid misconstruing the meanings. Billaahit tawfeeq.
